What we
actually fund
Specific, verified, one-time needs — a roof, a transmission, a certification exam. Paid to the vendor, never in cash.
Veteran roofs
Three homes, in progress now. Home Depot is funding materials. Labour comes through HBI Jacksonville's construction training program, so apprentices get hours on a real build while a veteran keeps their home. Morning Oil Coffee is on site.
It is the shape we want every program to have: a named need, a real bid, a partner who supplies something we would otherwise have to buy, and a receipt at the end.
The toy drive
December 1–17. Collection boxes at retail locations across Jacksonville. The goal is to fill a 26-foot moving truck.
Drop-off nights at The Block — bring a toy, get a free beer — on Wednesdays — December 2, 9 and 16 — plus Army–Navy game day and the Jaguars–Steelers Monday night game.
Food access
Exploratory. Early conversations about sustainable farming and food deserts in the neighborhoods with the fewest grocery options. Nothing is committed yet, and we would rather say that than imply a program exists.
Businesses
You can nominate a business, but a charity generally cannot hand cash to a for-profit company — so businesses get something different and often more useful: an episode, an award, and donated hours from our network.
The nomination form asks whether you are nominating a person or a business at the very first question, so nobody finds this out after writing five answers.
